Bali Trip Planning: Ubud, Beaches & Temple Etiquette
Split your time between culture in Ubud and beach days in Seminyak or Canggu — plus temple dress codes and transport tips.
Bali packs temples, rice terraces, surf beaches and world-class food into one island. The key to a great trip is splitting your stay — don't try to do everything from one hotel.
Suggested 7-day split
- Days 1–3: Ubud — rice terraces, monkey forest, cooking class
- Days 4–7: Seminyak or Canggu — beaches, cafés, sunset bars
- Day trip: Uluwatu temple and cliff beaches
Temple etiquette
Wear a sarong and sash (usually provided at entrance). Shoulders and knees must be covered. Women who are menstruating are asked not to enter inner temple areas — this is local custom, not optional.
Getting around
Private drivers cost roughly £30–45 per day and are the easiest option for families. Grab works in tourist areas; scooter hire is cheap but traffic can be chaotic.
