Greek Islands: Santorini, Mykonos & When to Go
Oia at sunset — arrive early for a good viewing spot.

Caldera sunsets, ferry hops and how to avoid the August crowds on Greece's most popular islands.

The Cyclades islands are a summer classic — white villages, Aegean blue and legendary sunsets. Santorini and Mykonos get the most attention, but planning around season and ferry routes makes all the difference.

Santorini essentials

Base in Oia or Imerovigli for caldera views, or Kamari/Perissa for beach access at lower prices. Book sunset restaurants or catamaran cruises well ahead for July and August.

Mykonos in a day

Ferries from Santorini take 2–3 hours. Mykonos Town is walkable and best explored in the morning before cruise-ship crowds arrive. Windmills and Little Venice are the classic photo stops.

When to go

May, June and September offer warm sea temperatures without peak-season prices. August is hot, crowded and expensive. April and October are quieter but some beach clubs close.

Getting a package quote

Flights into Athens plus island ferries or domestic flights can be tricky to book separately. We bundle hotels, transfers and ferries into one quote — often cheaper than DIY booking.
