The journey begins in Madurai, home to the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, before continuing to the sacred island of Rameswaram and the historic cities of Trichy and Thanjavur. The highlight of the tour is an immersive visit to the Navagraha Temples around Kumbakonam, covering temples dedicated to the nine planetary deities. The journey concludes with a visit to the famous Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram.
Day 1 – Madurai to Rameswaram
Arrive at Madurai Railway Station/Airport, refresh and begin your sightseeing with the iconic Meenakshi Amman Temple. Explore other attractions including Alaghar Temple, Palamudhircholai Murugan Temple, Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple, Mariamman Water Tank, Gandhi Museum and Thirumalai Nayakar Palace. Later, travel to Rameswaram, approximately 175 km / 3.5 hours, and check in for your overnight stay.
Day 2 – Rameswaram Sightseeing & Dhanushkodi
Begin with an early morning darshan and continue exploring the spiritual and historic attractions of Rameswaram. Visit Pamban Bridge, Ramanatha Swamy Temple, Ramar Patham, Laxmana Theertham, Kothandaramaswamy Temple, Agni Theertham, Hanuman Temple, Floating Stone and the Abdul Kalam Museum. Continue to the dramatic coastal destination of Dhanushkodi before returning to Rameswaram for an overnight stay.
Day 3 – Rameswaram to Trichy to Thanjavur
Travel from Rameswaram to Trichy, approximately 260 km / 5 hours. Explore the city's famous attractions including Rockfort, Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam, Samayapuram and Tiruvanaikaval. Later, continue to Thanjavur, approximately 60 km / 1 hour, and check in for your overnight stay.
Day 4 – Thanjavur to Kumbakonam
Explore the heritage of Thanjavur, including the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple, Thanjavur Palace and Museum. Later, travel towards Kumbakonam, approximately 40 km / 1 hour. En route, visit Thingalur's Kailasanathar Temple, dedicated to Chandra (Moon), beginning your Navagraha Temple experience. Continue to Kumbakonam for your overnight stay.
Day 5 – Kumbakonam – Navagraha Temples
Spend the day visiting four important Navagraha Temples, each associated with a different planetary deity:
Surya (Sun) – Suryanar Kovil, Suriyanar Koil
Guru (Jupiter) – Apathsahayeswarar Temple, Alangudi
Rahu – Naganathaswamy Temple, Thirunageswaram
Shukra (Venus) – Agniswarar Temple, Kanjanur
Return to Kumbakonam after completing the day's temple visits. Overnight stay in Kumbakonam.
Day 6 – Remaining Navagraha Temples to Chidambaram
Continue your spiritual journey by visiting the remaining four Navagraha temples:
Shani (Saturn) – Dharbaranyeswarar Temple, Thirunallar
Ketu – Naganathaswamy Temple, Keezhperumpallam
Angaarakan (Mars) – Vaitheeswaran Koil
Budha (Mercury) – Swetharanyeswarar Temple, Thiruvengadu
After completing the temple visits, travel towards Chidambaram and check in for your overnight stay.
Day 7 – Chidambaram & Departure
Begin the day with a visit to the famous Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram, an important centre of Shaivism and renowned for its magnificent architecture and spiritual significance.
After sightseeing, proceed for your onward journey with a convenient drop at Chidambaram, Kumbakonam or Trichy Railway Station/Airport, depending on your travel arrangements.
